It’s the year of Disco, and “Dancing Machine”
reaches #1 on the R&B chart. It’s a big year for the entire Jackson Family as they debut a Las Vegas show at the MGM Grand Hotel with siblings Randy, La Toya and Janet.  The Jackson 5 join Bob Hope on NBC’s Bob Hope Special where they perform ‘Dancing Machine’ and ‘Get It Together.’ The brother’s tour continues through Senegal, and eventually leads back to Texas.  The Jackson 5 pay their second visit to Sonny and Cher, this time performing ‘Dancing Machine.’  Between shows, the brothers somehow find the time to pay Merv Griffin a visit.  Las Vegas show opens, with La Toya, Randy, and Janet, joining the group.  Making one more TV appearance before getting back on the road, the brothers perform ‘I Want You Back’ and ‘ABC’ on the Sandy in Disney Land TV Special.  The Jackson 5 are “The Life Of the Party” on The Sonny Comedy Review.

 The Jackson 5 perform at the Grammy awards.  The Jackson 5 do a comedy routine and musical number alongside Carol Burnett on CBS’s The Carol Burnett Show. ‘Dancing Machine’ enters the pop singles chart peaking at #2 and remains on the charts for 22 weeks. The single sells over 1 million copies in less than a month.  The brothers spend an evening with Johnny Carson.  The Jackson 5 perform their second set on Soul Train this year.  The Jackson 5 host their final run of shows, with their cabaret set, in Las Vegas at the Nevada MGM Grand Hotel.  The Jackson 5 raise money for Muscular Dystrophy on the annual MDA telethon, hosted by Jerry Lewis.
